This auction is for an original work by world renowned conceptual artist Miles Jaffe, who is recognized for work that investigates the true nature of art.

This particular work uses the metaphor of an artist’s tube of paint to represent every artist’s favorite color – the red dot that signifies a sale. Or not – as not all Red Dots are genuine. 

It is not uncommon for galleries and dealers to place red dots on unsold works as a way to stimulate sales, especially at art fairs. This is known as the appearance of success, similar to the fancy suits worn by salesmen.
