Rumored to contain power beyond description, the Ark of the Covenant has been highly sought after across the ages.
Constructed by Bezalel from acacia wood and elaborately covered with solid gold, the Ark is a container for the stone tablets inscribed with the ten commandments that were given to Moses by God.
Missing for over two millennia, The Ark was rumored to be hidden below Jerusalem in the caves of Qumran where the the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, and in the city of Axum, Ethiopia.
There is anecdotal evidence that it was discovered in North Africa in 1943. Prior to that it was last reported in Jerusalem before the city was captured by Rome in 63 BCE.
Whether these rumors are true or false is irrelevent. The Ark was recently ‘recovered’ from a U.S. Army storage depot. It is not known how the Ark ended up there.
